Taylor’s students took part in an exciting Startup and Leadership Workshop organized by Taylor’s Entrepreneurship & Intrapreneurship Club. Guided by experts, students learned crucial entrepreneurship skills and built basic prototypes. SUBANG JAYA: Twenty-eight Taylor’s students have participated in the Startup and Leadership Workshop, organised by Taylor’s Entrepreneurship & Intrapreneurship Club on 16 June.
The participants experienced what it was like building a basic prototype or product, and knowing how to negotiate, think and challenge themselves, said one of the workshop facilitators, Mallory Loone.
Loone, who is the co-founder of Work Inspires, said their main goal was to teach the students entrepreneurship skills.
“We want students to know how to use entrepreneurship skills in a workplace,” said Loone.
Another co-founder Azfarazie bin Amirolzakri, added that they wanted students to understand and have the right mindset on preparing themselves for work.
Low Weng Wen, the head of HR department for the Club said the number of participants had exceeded the Club’s initial target of at least 25 participants.
She said the success may be because it was a free workshop from professionals and attendees would get certificates for participation.
Taylor’s Entrepreneurship & Intrapreneurship Club president, Darren Livendy, said there was a lot of emphasis on teamwork because of the short time that was given to finish all the tasks during the workshop.
“We are learning all these essential things that you need to consider when building a startup. All this was pretty insightful not only for me but I'm sure for everyone else who attended,” he added.
Livendy also said he realised during the workshop that the strength and weaknesses of leadership is definitely something he needs to take more careful consideration of.
“Making sure everyone participates, has strong synergy and a great relationship within the team itself, that was my ‘aha ’moment.”
